NFL Analyst Names 3 Teams That Should Jump at the Opportunity to Sign Joe Burrow Following His Shocking Press Conference Comments

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow left everyone in shock following his comments during Wednesday’s press conference, where he indirectly indicated that he may be thinking of stepping away from the game.

Reading too much into Burrow’s comments at this moment in time could be premature, and those comments may have stemmed from frustration with the organization more than anything else. And if that is the case, Burrow’s best chance may be to seek pastures new.

“He smiles every day. The narrative that y’all are trying to pin on him right now, I don’t see it.”

“He loves work. He loves the guys in the locker room, so he’s pretty positive to me.”

NFL Analyst Names 3 Destinations for Joe Burrow

Speaking in the aftermath of Joe Burrow’s candid media session on Wednesday, where he basically told reporters that, in order to continue playing, he should still enjoy the game. Those comments have since put the NFL community on alert, and plenty of speculation regarding his future is being discussed.

NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky believes that Burrow will continue playing in the NFL, but it is a clear indication that he is not at all pleased with the way things are going in Cincinnati. When asked if he would be shocked if Burrow decided to hang up his cleats, Orlovsky’s response was clear.

“It would shock me if he retired, yes,” Orlovsky responded before continuing to name three teams he thinks should be ready to pounce for his signature. “It would shock me if three teams weren’t on the phone today after what he said yesterday, figuring out how to make him part of our football team – Jets, Raiders, Steelers.”

Going off of what Orlovsky said, here is a look at the quarterback situations of all three teams and how Burrow could fit on those rosters should he be looking to get traded.

New York Jets – (3-10)

Through Week 14, the New York Jets sit at a 3-10 record, and despite having problems elsewhere on the field, the quarterback position is the one area that really needs a standout player.

It has been ages since the Jets made it to the postseason, and having a signal-caller like Burrow would be a massive step in the right direction. New York’s current QB room consists of Justin Fields as the starter, followed by Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook.

In spite of getting a fair opportunity in the Big Apple, Fields wasn’t able to resurrect his career. Moving on from him for Burrow would be a no-brainer. Additionally, the Jets have multiple picks they can offer in exchange, having received high compensation when they traded Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams during the trade deadline.

Las Vegas Raiders (2-11)

The Raiders made plenty of changes this offseason, starting with the signing of head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith. Despite the new faces in the team, the Raiders continue to struggle and have won just 2 games after Week 14.

Quarterback play was always an issue, even in the offseason, and since they didn’t opt for one higher in the draft, the Raiders decided to team Carroll up with Geno Smith to see if the duo could recreate some of the magic from their days in Seattle together.

Suffice it to say that the experiment hasn’t turned out too well, and the backup quarterbacks in Kenny Pickett and Aidan O’Connell are too unreliable to be handed the role of a starter on a regular basis. Smith is the joint leader in the number of interceptions this season with 14, so going after Burrow would make a lot of sense for them.

Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6)

The Steelers are 7-6 at the moment and are in a tough battle with the Ravens for the AFC North crown. They are led by 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers under center, but there is an excellent chance that this will be Rodgers’ final season in the league.

Pittsburgh also does not have a solid backup plan with the likes of Mason Rudolph and Will Howard next on the depth chart. Although trading for a divisional rival would require much more compensation and may still not be enough, if the Steelers can land Joe Burrow, he will have a much better defense, as well as an offensive line to take care of him.

Of course, it is still way too early to speculate on what will happen in the future, and whether Burrow truly is looking for a way out of Cincy. Irrespective, rest assured, teams will be keeping a close eye on this developing situation throughout the upcoming offseason.
