Newcastle United Sign Jacob Ramsey From Aston Villa in £40M Deal

Newcastle United have strengthened their midfield by signing Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa in a deal worth £40 million. The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year contract at St James’ Park. Ramsey becomes the Magpies’ fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Anthony Elanga, Aaron Ramsdale, and Malick Thiaw.

The move will gives Eddie Howe added depth in midfield as Newcastle prepare for their Champions League campaign. The English midfielder leaves Aston Villa after more than 15 years at the club, having risen through their academy ranks. Ramsey made over 160 appearances for the first team and his departure also helps Villa balance their books under Financial Fair Play regulations.

Ramsey To Wear Number 41 Shirt at Newcastle

Newcastle will pay an initial £39m plus £4m in add-ons to secure Ramsey’s signature. He had two years left on his Villa contract but was seen as a long-term target for Newcastle. Ramsey will wear the No. 41 shirt at Newcastle. The former England Under-21 international departs Villa with 17 goals in 167 appearances across all competitions.

At Newcastle, Ramsey is expected to slot into a midfield that already includes Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali. His arrival provides versatility and energy in the middle of the park, qualities that Howe has sought to reinforce this summer.
