The New York Liberty has created a huge record after their blowout victory against the Connecticut Sun. The win was so dominant, it marked the largest blowout victory in WNBA history. Liberty also has a perfect 7-0 record in this season.

Their start to Sunday’s game was too good, as attack and defense both gave little room to the opposition. Liberty exploded for 31 points in the first quarter, while the Sun managed just 13, setting the tone early.

The energy inside Barclays Center was electric, as if the crowd sensed they were witnessing history in the making. Liberty continued their offensive dominance, scoring 29 points in the second quarter. While Connecticut Sun still failed to find ground with just 15 points to their name.

The half-time score read 60-28 in favor of the New York Liberty. Such was the massive dominance of the home side throughout every aspect of the game on Sunday. The Sun looked shell-shocked, unable to mount any resistance on either end. And it wasn’t even that a single star was having their best game of the career.

Liberty Starters Dominate, Records Tumble Hard

Scoring was balanced across the starting five, with no single player overshadowing the team’s all-around brilliance. Second half mayhem set the record for the New York Liberty with the largest blowout victory in the WNBA history. The first seed again went on a massive scoring run, putting up 30 points against Connecticut Sun’s 8 points. The attack of the Sun was nowhere to be found.

With the win secured early, Liberty head coach called back all her starters and gave more minutes to the bench. Connecticut Sun slightly took advantage of the reduced tempo and upped their defense. They conceded only 10 points in the last 10 minutes, which was huge given the context of the game.

However, in return, they could score only 16 points. The WNBA game ended with a scoreline of 100-52 in favor of the New York Liberty. The 48-point margin set a new WNBA record for the largest blowout victory, etched into the league’s history books.
