Veteran Duo Skupski and Salisbury Face Unfamiliar Challenge Against Singles Specialists Fearnley and Norrie
Third seeds Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury team up to face wildcard duo Jacob Fearnley and Cameron Norrie in the Queen’s Club doubles first round. Salisbury, who split with longtime partner Rajeev Ram last year, enjoyed a dominant run with 10 ATP titles and four Grand Slams. Skupski, too, brings reputation, having won Wimbledon doubles in 2023 with Wesley Koolhof and back-to-back mixed titles in 2021 and 2022 with Desirae Krawczyk.
By contrast, Fearnley and Norrie are primarily singles players, short on doubles accolades and experience. Against two proven grass-court specialists, they’ll need more than home support to pull off an upset. But tennis is, as always, full of unexpected twists.

Skupski and Salisbury come in as proven doubles veterans, riding the momentum of a runner-up finish at Roland Garros. Upset by Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers in three sets. Though still searching for their first title together, their chemistry has delivered strong results with finals in Doha and Barcelona, a quarterfinal in Dubai, and back-to-back semifinals in Rome and Hamburg.
In contrast, Fearnley and Norrie remain double outsiders. Norrie had a brief appearance in Hong Kong alongside Luciano Darderi, suffering an early loss, and hadn’t played doubles since. Fearnley, meanwhile, has dabbled on the Challenger circuit, with modest results in Canberra, Phoenix, and most recently at Roland Garros, where he and Gabriel Diallo fell in the second round to Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten.

Skupski and Salisbury hold a clear edge with their proven track record and recent deep runs on clay and hard courts. While Fearnley and Norrie bring home support and singles experience, this is their first meeting as teams, and the veterans’ cohesion could prove too strong.
