Victor Wembanyama
Victor Wembanyama, nicknamed “Wemby” or “The Alien,” was born on January 4, 2004, in Le Chesnay, France. Standing at 2.31 meters tall and weighing 108 kg, he plays as a center. His professional career began in 2019 with Nanterre 92 of the LNB Pro A, where he played until 2021. Wembanyama then played for ASVEL from 2021 to 2022 and for Metropolitans 92 from 2022 to 2023. Considered one of the most promising basketball prospects of his generation, he was the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, selected by the San Antonio Spurs, where he currently plays. In his national team career, Wembanyama represented France in various categories. He won a silver medal with the team at the U16 World Championship in 2019 and at the U19 World Championship in 2021. For the senior French team, he won a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Victor Wembanyama has already accumulated several awards and honors, including being named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2024, selected for the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2024, and for the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2024. He also led the NBA in blocks per game and total blocks in 2024 and 2025, in addition to being selected for the NBA All-Star in 2025.
