Tyrese Samuel
Tyrese Samuel was born on March 10, 2000, in LaSalle, Quebec, Canada. He is the son of Patricia Bynoe and John Samuel and has two sisters. He attended Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Orangeville Prep in Orangeville, Ontario, for high school. Samuel is 6’9″ tall and weighs 238 lbs, playing as a power forward. Samuel’s college basketball career began at Seton Hall, where he played from 2019 to 2023. During his time with the Seton Hall Pirates, he appeared in 29 games with two starts in the 2021-22 season, increasing his averages to 7.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He was also recognized on the NABC Honors Court and the BIG EAST All-Academic Team during this period. After his time at Seton Hall, he transferred to the Florida Gators for the 2023-2024 season. Throughout his entire college career, which spanned 154 games, he accumulated a total of 1,315 points, 779 rebounds, 123 assists, 108 steals, and 107 blocks. In the 2024 NBA draft, Tyrese Samuel was not selected. Despite this, he pursued a professional career. In October 2025, Samuel was recently in the news for being waived by the Phoenix Suns on October 16, 2025, along with Damion Baugh. Neither player appeared in preseason games for the Suns, as the team was finalizing its roster for the 2025-26 season. Samuel is currently a free agent.
