Nigel Hayes-Davis
Nigel Hayes-Davis was born on December 16, 1994, in Westerville, Ohio, USA. His parents are Talaya and Albert Davis. He attended Whitmer High School in Toledo, Ohio, where he excelled in both basketball and American football. In high school, he averaged 15.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game, totaling 1,333 points, 766 rebounds, and 294 assists over his four-year career. He graduated from Whitmer High School with a strong record, leading his team to a state championship game appearance in his junior year.
Hayes-Davis played college basketball for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2013 to 2017. During his time at Wisconsin, he was a standout player, earning First-Team All-Big Ten honors in his junior year. He led the Badgers in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game, and also led the team in assists while being second in rebounds. In his senior season, he was named Preseason Big Ten Player of the Year, averaging 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He graduated in May 2017 with a degree in business finance and investment banking.
After an impressive college career, Nigel Hayes-Davis went undrafted in the 2017 NBA draft. Despite this, he embarked on a professional basketball career. Initially, he played for the Westchester Knicks in 2017–2018 before joining the Sacramento Kings in 2018. He then moved overseas, playing for Galatasaray (2018–2019), Žalgiris Kaunas (2019–2021), FC Barcelona (2021–2022), and Fenerbahçe (2022–2025). During his time in Europe, he achieved significant success, including being a two-time First-Team All-EuroLeague selection. He holds the record for most points scored in a EuroLeague game with 50 points against Alba Berlin in the 2023–24 season. He also won the EuroLeague championship in 2025 with Fenerbahçe, earning the Final Four MVP award.
In 2025, Hayes-Davis made his return to the NBA, signing with the Phoenix Suns. He reportedly paid $1 million to buy out his contract with Fenerbahçe, which was set to run until 2027, to pursue his goal of returning to the NBA. He was earning around $2 million per season in Europe, and his decision to join the Suns marked a significant shift in his career. He is expected to provide depth at the forward positions for the Suns. Hayes-Davis is listed at 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m) and 225 lb (102 kg).
