Malcolm Hill
Malcolm Hill’s life began on October 26, 1995, in St. Louis, Missouri. At four years old, his family moved to Belleville, Illinois, a Metro East suburb. During his early years, up to fifth grade, Hill participated in football and baseball before deciding to focus on basketball. His parents are Malcolm and Machanda Hill, and he has two younger brothers, Clayton and Anderson, and a younger sister, Paige. His father also played Division II college basketball at Missouri-St. Louis. Hill continued his higher education at the University of Illinois, where he majored in media and cinema studies. During his college basketball career at the University of Illinois, from 2013 to 2017, Malcolm Hill achieved significant milestones. He became the second player in Illini history to record over 1,800 points and 600 rebounds. He ranks third on the UI career scoring list with 1,846 points, third in career free throws made (521) and attempted (655), tenth in career field goals made (583), ninth in career field goals attempted (1,347), seventh in career minutes played (3,864), and seventh in career games played (137). His height was consistently listed at 6’6″ throughout his college career, with his weight fluctuating from 210 lbs as a freshman to 229 lbs as a sophomore, 218 lbs as a junior, and 225 lbs as a senior. After his successful college career, Malcolm Hill went undrafted in the 2017 NBA draft. However, his professional journey began soon after. On October 9, 2021, he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans, although he was waived just three days later, on October 12. On October 25, he signed with the Birmingham Squadron as an affiliate player. In 14 games with the Squadron, he averaged 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.6 steals in 31.6 minutes per game. Hill’s position is power forward, and he is listed at 6’6″ and 220 lbs. He remains a free agent.
