Lachlan Olbrich
Lachlan Olbrich was born on December 30, 2003, in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. He grew up playing basketball with his older brother, Mitchell, and his father, Greg. He attended Reynella East College in Adelaide, where he played basketball and volleyball, and represented South Australia in national basketball championships in 2020 and 2021. He is 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) and 236 lb (107 kg), and plays power forward or center.
Olbrich played college basketball at the University of California, Riverside (UC Riverside) from 2022 to 2023. In his freshman year (2022-23), he averaged 11.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. His performance earned him the Big West Freshman of the Year award and an All-Big West Honorable Mention, making him only the second Big West Freshman of the Year in UC Riverside history. He was also one of six players and the only freshman to rank in the top six in the Big West in rebounding and field goal percentage.
Lachlan Olbrich declared for the 2025 NBA draft. He was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round as the 55th overall pick. His draft rights were immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls. On July 3, 2025, he signed a two-way contract with the Bulls and joined the team for the 2025 NBA Summer League.
Before his NBA draft, Olbrich had a notable international career. In the 2024–25 NBL season with the Illawarra Hawks, he averaged 8.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 16.7 minutes per game in 29 games, shooting 60.2% from the field. He also had a dominant 2024 NZ NBL season with the Canterbury Rams, averaging 20.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. For his exceptional performance, he was named NZ NBL MVP and Grand Final MVP. Olbrich has played professionally since 2021, with his career including BA Centre of Excellence (2021), Southern Tigers (2021-2022), Adelaide 36ers (2021-2022), West Adelaide Bearcats (2023), Illawarra Hawks (2023-2025), and Canterbury Rams (2024). He also excelled at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine.
