Kennedy Chandler
Kennedy Chandler, born on September 16, 2002, in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, is an American basketball player. Standing at 1.85 m (6 feet and 1 inch) tall and weighing 77 kg (170 lb), he plays as a point guard. His full name is Kennedy Collier Chandler, and his parents are Kylan and Rosalind Chandler. He majored in Communication Studies during his college career. Chandler attended Briarcrest Christian School in Eads, Tennessee, and Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas. He was highly regarded as a five-star recruit and one of the top point guards in the 2021 class. In his senior year of high school, he was named a McDonald’s All-American and selected for the Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit rosters. He also won the Tennessee Mr. Basketball award twice, in 2019 and 2020. He played one season of college basketball for the University of Tennessee (2021–2022). During his freshman year, he declared for the 2022 NBA Draft on April 5, 2022, foregoing his remaining college eligibility. He finished his season with team averages of 13.9 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. His career records at Tennessee included 27 points against Colorado, 8 rebounds against Missouri, 10 assists twice (the last against South Carolina), 7 steals against Presbyterian, and 2 blocks against Arkansas. He was named to the Second Team All-SEC, the SEC All-Freshman Team, and was the MVP of the SEC tournament in 2022. In the 2022 NBA Draft, Chandler was selected by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2nd round as the 38th overall pick. His draft rights were immediately traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. During the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, he recorded the highest maximum vertical jump among all participants, with 41.5 inches. After the draft, he most recently played for the Houston Rockets in the NBA Summer League. His professional career has included stints with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2022–2023, the Long Island Nets in 2023–2024, and the Raptors 905 from 2024–present, where he wears jersey number 14. He currently plays in the NBA G League.
