John Butler Jr.
John Erik Butler Jr. was born on December 4, 2002, in Greenville, South Carolina, USA. He is an American professional basketball player who is 2.13 m tall and weighs 86 kg. He plays as a power forward or center. Butler Jr. attended Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville, South Carolina, for high school. After high school, he committed to play college basketball for the Florida State Seminoles from 2021 to 2022. During his freshman year at Florida State, he averaged 5.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, demonstrating 39.3 percent three-point shooting accuracy. After his freshman season, Butler Jr. declared for the 2022 NBA draft, opting to forgo his remaining college eligibility. Although he went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft, Butler Jr. began his professional career by joining the New Orleans Pelicans for the NBA Summer League. He later played for the Portland Trail Blazers from 2022 to 2023. On October 23, 2023, Butler Jr. signed a two-way contract with the Washington Wizards, leading him to play for their G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go. Most recently, he played for the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League in 2025.
