Roby played college basketball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 2016 to 2019. During his freshman year (2016-17), he had a late start due to an offseason injury but became an essential part of the Huskers’ rotation, playing in 30 games with four starts and averaging 3.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He followed that with three consecutive double-doubles. Overall, in his Nebraska career, he averaged 8.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

After his college career, Roby was drafted into the NBA. He signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the New York Knicks in 2025 but was waived the same day, with plans to join their G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, for the 2025-26 campaign. Previously, in the 2022-23 season, he played for the San Antonio Spurs, where he notably scored 9 points and grabbed 3 rebounds against Cleveland on December 12, marking his first start of the season.
