Hunter Cattoor
Hunter Cattoor, born on November 17, 2000, is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. Measuring 1.91 m and weighing 91 kg, Cattoor primarily plays as a point guard. His personal life includes being the son of Rodney and Kathy Cattoor, and he has two brothers, Bryce and Taylor. In late 2022, his father, Rodney, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In July 2024, Cattoor married Chloe Brooks, a former Virginia Tech basketball player whose father, Kenny Brooks, coached Virginia Tech before taking a position at Kentucky. Cattoor earned his bachelor’s degree in human development in the summer of 2022 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in education, liberal arts, and humanities. He has expressed a desire to play in the NBA.
Cattoor’s high school career was at Bishop Moore in Orlando, Florida. After high school, he committed to play college basketball at Virginia Tech, where he played from 2019 to 2024. As a freshman, he averaged 6.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. In his sophomore year, his performance improved to an average of 8.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. A significant highlight of his college career came in 2022, when he was named the ACC Tournament MVP after leading Virginia Tech to a surprising 82-67 victory over Duke in the championship game, scoring an impressive 31 points. During his junior year, he continued to contribute significantly, averaging 10 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
After his successful college career at Virginia Tech, Hunter Cattoor entered the 2024 NBA draft but was not selected. Despite not being drafted, Cattoor continued his professional career. Most recently, he played for BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque of the French LNB Pro A. As a free agent, Cattoor is actively looking for his next professional opportunity, hoping to fulfill his dream of playing in the NBA.
