Damion Lee
Damion Lee is an American professional basketball player, born on October 21, 1992, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Playing predominantly as a Point Guard and Shooting Guard, Lee is 1.96m tall and weighs approximately 95 kg. His basketball journey began in high school, excelling at Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore and, later, at St. Thomas More School, where he contributed to the National Prep School Championship title.
University Career
Lee’s collegiate career began at Drexel University, where he played from 2011 to 2015. He quickly established himself as an impactful player, being named CAA Rookie of the Year in 2012. In his junior season, Lee was one of the most productive athletes in college basketball, finishing as the fourth leading scorer in the country, with an impressive average of 21.4 points per game.
After suffering an injury that kept him out for a season (redshirt), he finished his tenure at Drexel as the tenth highest scorer in university history, with a total of 1,538 points. For his final season of eligibility (2015–2016), Lee transferred to the University of Louisville, where he earned Second-team All-ACC recognition.
Professional NBA Career
Despite not being selected in the 2016 NBA Draft, Damion Lee began his professional career in the G League, the NBA’s developmental league, playing for the Maine Red Claws and, subsequently, the Santa Cruz Warriors.
His consistent performance in the G League paved the way for the NBA, culminating in a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks in March 2018, which was extended until the end of that season.
The most prominent and successful period of his NBA career was with the Golden State Warriors, a team he joined in 2018. After spending time on a Two-Way contract, Lee secured his place in the team’s main rotation, establishing himself as a reliable three-point shooter and a diligent defender. In 2022, he reached the pinnacle of his professional career by winning the NBA Championship with the Warriors, making a valuable contribution to the title.
After winning the championship, Lee transferred to the Phoenix Suns in 2022, where he continued to serve as a rotation player. An injury kept him out for most of the 2023-2024 season. After his time in Phoenix, in 2025, he signed with Ironi Ness Ziona, marking his move to international basketball in Israel.
Personal Life and Family Connections
Off the court, Damion Lee is notably married to Sydel Curry. Sydel is the sister of NBA stars Stephen Curry and Seth Curry, which makes Damion Lee part of one of the most prominent families in recent basketball history. He is also the son-in-law of former NBA player Dell Curry.
