Dain Dainja
Dain Dainja was born on July 16, 2002, in Chicago, the son of Baba Dainja and Latasha Kilgore. His father played college basketball at Minnesota from 1990 to 1993. Dainja’s personal interests include fashion, clothing, and photo shoots. He considers earning a scholarship to play college basketball his greatest athletic achievement, and his favorite athlete is Carmelo Anthony. He is majoring in communications. Dainja’s college career began at Baylor, where he played for one year. He then transferred to the University of Illinois, playing for two seasons (2022-23 and 2023-24). During his junior year (2023-24) at Illinois, he played in all 37 games, ranking sixth on the team in scoring (6.3 ppg) and rebounding (3.7 rpg). He also led the team with a 68.2% field goal percentage (101-148) and set an Illinois program record of 20 consecutive converted field goals, a streak that lasted six postseason games. For his senior redshirt season in 2024-25, Dainja played for the University of Memphis as a power forward, listed at 6’9″ and 255 lbs. That season, he averaged 14.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 27.1 minutes per game over 35 games. Regarding his professional career and news, former Memphis basketball star Dain Dainja signed an NBA contract with the Miami Heat in September. However, he was waived by the Heat on Friday, October 17, 2025, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. As of October 17, 2025, Dainja is a free agent.
