Cam Thomas
Cameron “Cam” Thomas was born on August 21, 2001, in Chesapeake, Virginia. From an early age, he demonstrated natural talent for basketball, developing a reputation as a relentless scorer. His mother, Leslie Thomas, played a central role in his life and basketball career.
Thomas began his high school career at Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Virginia. However, he soon transferred to Oak Hill Academy, a high school basketball powerhouse in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, known for producing elite NBA talent. At Oak Hill, he established himself as one of the best players in the country, finishing his career as the second all-time leading scorer in school history. He was selected to play in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic in 2020. He was widely ranked as a five-star recruit, one of the most promising in his class.
College Career at LSU
After high school, Cam Thomas committed to play college basketball at Louisiana State University (LSU). His time at LSU was brief but extremely productive.
In his sole season (2020-2021) with the Tigers, Thomas quickly became the team’s primary offensive threat and one of the best scorers in all of college basketball. He led the SEC (Southeastern Conference) and ranked fourth in the country with an average of 23.0 points per game.
Thanks to his immediate impact and offensive skill, Thomas was named to the All-SEC First Team and the All-SEC Freshman Team. He ended his college career after leading LSU to the NCAA Tournament, declaring himself eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft.
