Amid the devastating wildfires that recently ravaged Los Angeles, Lakers star LeBron James shared a harrowing experience involving his family. According to the 4-time NBA MVP, he and his loved ones were evacuated from their home and relocated to a hotel due to the high risks posed by the disaster in Southern California.
“For my family, we were evacuated Thursday night. Since returning from Dallas, we’ve been staying in a hotel. We’re doing our best to manage the situation by staying strong for one another because that’s what matters most,” LeBron told reporters after the victory against the Miami Heat on Wednesday (15 january).
The 40-year old veteran also spoke about the emotional toll of the situation. “Personally, I’m not doing well. I have close friends who lost their homes in Palisades. My heart goes out to all the families affected, not just in Palisades but throughout Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. It’s an incredibly emotional time.”
LeBron James spoke for the first time about how the recent fires in Los Angeles have impacted him and his family.

While LeBron James managed to keep his family safe, Lakers coach JJ Redick wasn’t as fortunate in material terms. Although no members of his or his wife’s family were harmed, he lost his home in the wildfires. Redick recently shared that his loved ones were able to escape just before the flames reached their area.
