The 16-game winning streak of the Cleveland Cavaliers came to an end as the Orlando Magic bounced back from their previous defeat to take down the Eastern Conference toppers down. On the other hand, as the Lakers returned home following a four-match road trip, they gained back their lost momentum. Luka Doncic returned to the side after missing a game and led the side to a notable 107-96 win over the Phoenix Suns.

From the Mavs’ continued struggles to the Timberwolves’ eighth straight win, a lot happened in the NBA on Sunday, March 16. Let us go through a few key highlights:

76ers 130-125 Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks’ woeful run continued as they fell to a lower-ranked Philadelphia 76ers 130-125. This was their third straight and eighth loss in the last ten games. Quentin Grimes took the charge in his hands and led the 76ers with 28 points, two rebounds and six assists. Jalen Hood-Schifino came up with 19 points, two rebounds and one assist, whereas Guerschon Yabusele and Jeff Dowtin Jr. finished with 14 points apiece.

On the other hand, P.J. Washington came up with 29 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. Klay Thompson and Naji Marshall scored 21 points each. Spencer Dinwiddie and Max Christie finished with 18 points each, while Brandon Williams came up with 11 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Magic 108-103 Cavaliers

The Eastern Conference toppers Cleveland Cavaliers’ 16-game winning streak came to an end as they slumped to the Orlando Magic 108-103. Paolo Banchero recorded 24 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists while Franz Wagner came up with 22 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Anthony Black scored 17 points, three rebounds and two assists while Wendell Carter Jr chipped in 16 points, 14 rebounds and one assist.

On the Cavaliers side, Donovan Mitchell came up with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists. Jarrett Allen had 20 points, 12 rebounds and two assists while Darius Garland scored 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. The Cavs have already clinched their playoff berth, and became the first team this season to do so.

Lakers 107-96 Suns

The Los Angeles Lakers are back at home, and so is their winning momentum. After losing all four games on the road, they took down the Phoenix Suns 107-96. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 33 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, while Austin Reaves came up with 28 points, four rebounds and six assists. Jaxson Hayes scored 19 points, six rebounds and three assists.

On the Suns side, Kevin Durant led the charts with 21 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Devin Booker scored 19 points, six rebounds and 11 assists. Ryan Dunn chipped in 13 points, three rebounds and one assists for the Suns who fell for the sixth time in the last ten games.

Nets 122-114 Hawks

The Brooklyn Nets put an end to their three-match losing streak and took down the Atlanta Hawks 122-114. Cameron Johnson scored 28 points, four rebounds and seven assists, while Keon Johnson scored 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Tyrese Martin had 16 points, six rebounds and three assists while Jalen Wilson and Trendon Watford finished with 13 points, each.

For the Hawks, Trae Young came up with 28 points, six rebounds and 12 assists. Onyeka Okongwu came up with 21 points, 15 rebounds and one assist. Zaccharie Risacher tallied 16 points and two rebounds while Dyson Daniels scored 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Trail Blazers 105-102 Raptors

Anfernee Simons led the Portland Trail Blazers with 22 points, one rebound and four assists for a 105-102 win over the Toronto Raptors. Toumani Camara came up with 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Deni Avdija scored 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. Shaedon Sharpe contributed 17 points, four rebounds and one assist to the Trail Blazers’ first win in six games.

On the other hand, Jakob Poeltl and Ochai Agbaji scored 19 points each for the Raptors. Scottie Barnes came up with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. Jamal Shead and Orlando Robinson finished with 10 points each. This was the Raptors’ fourth loss in the last ten games.

Timberwolves 128-102 Jazz

The Minnesota Timberwolves recorded a blowout 128-102 win over the Utah Jazz. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves to their eighth straight win with 41 points, two rebounds and two assists. Jaden McDaniels finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. Apart from them, no other player could manage to cross the 11-point mark.

On the Jazz’s side, Collin Sexton came up with 22 points, four rebounds and four assists. Lauri Markkanen came up with 16 points, one rebound and two assists. Walker Kessler finished the night with 15 points, and a game-high 19 rebounds.

Clippers 123-88 Hornets

The Los Angeles Clippers handed the Hornets their seventh loss of the season as they took them down 123-88. James Harden led the score charts with 31 points, ten rebounds and seven assists while Kawhi Leonard recorded 23 points, six rebounds and five assists. Ivica Zubac finished the night with 17 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.

On the other hand, Mark Williams came up with 18 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists. LaMelo Ball scored 16 points, two rebounds and five assists for the side.

Thunder 121-105 Bucks

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 31 points, two rebounds and eight assists guided the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 121-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Isaiah Hartenstein came up with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, while Isaiah Joe tallied 19 points, six rebounds and two assists. Chet Holmgren scored 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

On the Bucks’ side, Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds and ten assists. Damian Lillard recorded 19 points, one rebound and two assists. Gary Trent Jr. recorded 12 points, one rebound and two assists. The loss put an end to the Bucks’ two-game winning streak.
