NBA Daily Recap, January 26 – SGA guides NBA-leading Thunder to snap Portland’s winning streak

Here’s the NBA Daily Recap for Jan. 26, 2025, where we witnessed one matchup. It was the fifth death anniversary of NBA legend, Kobe Bryant who passed away in 2020 in a helicopter crash.

From Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s impressive outing to Isaiah Hartenstein’s return after injury, let’s go through the key highlights from the NBA action on Sunday.

Trail Blazers 108 – 118 Thunder

The current number 1 in the MVP ladder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 33 points to guide the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Portland Trail Blazers 118-108 in the only matchup of the day. It’s his 14th consecutive 25-point game and his league-leading 27th 30-point game of the season.

Isaiah Hartenstein returned after a five-game absence and finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jalen Williams added 24 points and eight assists. Thunder moved on from a disappointing third loss to the Dallas Mavericks. They improved to 39-8 overall and 17-5 on the road.

Deni Avdija was a top performer for the Trail Blazers and added 28 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Anfernee Simons’ free throws helped the Portland Trail Blazers cut the deficit to five points in the fourth quarter. OKC countered back through Jalen Williams’ 3-pointer and later, stretched the lead to 15 points with a 12-2 run.

Scoot Henderson added 25 points off the bench and Toumani Camara chipped in with 24 points for the Blazers, who have now lost their last 15 games against the Thunder. OKC Thunder held a 52-22 advantage in the paint. NBA-leading Thunder also snapped Portland’s four-game winning streak.
