Here’s the NBA Daily Recap for Feb. 13, 2025, where we witnessed only five matchups. It was a thrilling day in the league as two games went into overtime. The league will now move into an All-Star break.

From CJ McCollum erupting for 43 points in the Pelicans’ OT win to Naz Reid and Anthony Edwards combining for 50 in beating NBA leaders, let’s go through the key highlights from the NBA action on Thursday.

Pelicans 140-133 Kings (OT)

CJ McCollum posted a 43-point performance and the New Orleans Pelicans halted a 10-game losing streak with a win against the Sacramento Kings in overtime. McCollum scored 37 points in the second half and 11 points in overtime. Jose Alvarado and Trey Murphy III scored 18 points apiece in the win. Jordan Hawkins and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl each scored 16 points off the bench while Karlo Matkovic dropped a career-high 13 points.

Zach LaVine led the Kings with 32 points and 10 assists. Domantas Sabonis added 22 points and tied a career-high with 28 rebounds. Sabonis has grabbed 20 or more rebounds seven times this season. Malik Monk chipped in 24 points and DeMar DeRozan had 20.

Rockets 98-105 Warriors

A late fourth-quarter surge helped the Golden State Warriors secure a road win over the Houston Rockets. Stephen Curry scored 27 points and Butler added 19, fell shy of one point to score at least 20 in all four games since a trade from Miami.

Golden State had an 11-2 run in the fourth period with two minutes left. However, the Rockets sparked a 7-3 run in the end but damage was already done. Warriors had the biggest lead of 24 points in the game but allowed Houston to reduce the gap in 2nd half. Aaron Holiday tied for a career-high 25 points and the Rockets lost for the seventh time in nine games.

Timberwolves 116-101 Thunder

Naz Reid scored 27 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists as the Minnesota Timberwolves squeezed past the NBA leaders, the Oklahoma City Thunder, who snapped their seven-game winning streak. Anthony Edwards scored 23 points, including a viral poster dunk over Chet Holmgren. Jaden McDaniels added 21 points in the win.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who announced signature sneakers SHAI 001, had 24 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Both All-Stars, Edwards and SGA struggled in shooting in the first half. Timberwolves played without four of its top eight scorers and still beat league’s best side.

Mavericks 118-113 Heat

The short-handed Dallas Mavericks overcame the Miami Heat 118-113 to secure the second straight win. Daniel Gafford missed back-to-back games after an injury against the Kings and center will be out for at least six weeks. Dante Exum posted a season-high 27 points and Max Christie added 19. Kessler Edwards contributed with season-highs of 15 points and nine rebounds.

Spencer Dinwiddie dropped 17 points as Dallas won for the fourth time in five games. Tyler Herro led the Miami Heat with 40 points. Rookie Kel’el Ware added 17 points. Kyle Anderson finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Miami dropped four straight games.

Jazz 116-120 Clippers

Norman Powell highlighted a season-high 41 points and the Los Angeles Clippers survived against the Utah Jazz in overtime. James Harden added 32 points and 10 rebounds and the Clippers rallied back from a 20-point deficit to win the game. Ben Simmons scored 12 points on his Clippers debut.

Kyle Filipowski paced the Jazz with a career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Lauri Markkanen chipped in with 20 points and John Collins added 17. Utah held a nine-point lead heading into the final quarter but the Clippers outscored the hosts 22-13 to move into overtime.
