Mirra Andreeva takes on Emma Novarro in a highly-anticipated clash at Centre Court.
The 7th-seed Mirra Andreeva and the 10th-seed Emma Novarro will be playing each other at Centre Court for the round of 16 matchup in the 2025 Wimbledon championship. The Russian ace dispatched Hailey Baptiste 6-1, 6-3 in the third round, while Novarro knocked out the defending champions, Barbora Krejcikova to reach her second straight Wimbledon fourth round.
Mirra Andreeva made a rise in women’s singles over the last one year. The Russian ace is chasing her first-ever Wimbledon quarterfinals. Apart from the Roland Garros, she never reached the last-8 of any Grand Slam tournament. The 18-year-old had a breakthrough year in 2025 with two WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and the Indian Wells. She overcame the world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the Indian Wells which shows her rise as the player.

Andreeva has beaten five top-10 players this year. However, the fourth round has been tricky for Mirra as she dropped four out of last five Grand Slam fourth round matches. She participated in Berlin and Bad Homburg for the grass-court preparation but lost early. She made into the fourth round last year as a qualifier and now, she is playing as the 7th-seed player, who is just one win to away to reach quarterfinals.
Emma Novarro is playing the fourth round for the second straight year. The former NCAA champion produced a comeback win over the 2024 Wimbledon winner in the third round. After losing the first set 6-2, she dispatched Barbora Krejcikova 6-3, 6-4 in remaining sets. Novarro reached the quarterfinal stage of the Australian Open this year and posted a 7-3 record on grass court.
The grass court doesn’t suit Novarro’s style of play but still, she has been a player to watch out on this surface. She also had a grass-court warmup in Bad Homburg where she had a quarterfinal. She beat former Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka in the run. She won the title of the Merida Open as the top seed this year and reached the quarterfinals in Miami Open.

Mirra Andreeva has been a more composed and improved player this year across all courts. The Russian ace thrashed Novarro 6-2, 6-2 last summer in Cincinnati which remains their only meeting. Novarro secured some crucial victories against the top seed, including the comeback victory over the reigning champion last week. However, Andreeva offers a package of versatility and variety of shots on both sides of the courts. The 18-year-old also has dominated the higher-ranked players this year so she takes a slight edge in the fascinating battle between two top-10 players.
