The Minnesota Vikings are coming off of a 14-3 record in the 2024 season, and they are headed towards the right direction in terms of rebuilding and making a deeper playoff run. Last season, the Vikings added QB Sam Darnold to help them get through the regular season, as their rookie QB JJ McCarthy went down with a season-ending injury in the preseason. What nobody expected from Darnold was the drastic change in his production level as he went from throwing for 3,967 passing yards from 2021-2023 regular season , to 4,319 passing yards and 35 touchdowns in the 2024 season. Simply put, Darnold went nuts playing for the Minnesota Vikings last season and he helped Minnesota achieve a 14-3 record.

With his production came the difficult choice that the Vikings had to make in the offseason, as they had to choose between Darnold, a newly found star QB, or a rookie QB J.J. McCarthy, who has not yet played a single NFL game but is a highly promising player. In the end, the Vikings let Darnold sign with the Seattle Seahawks, and have placed all of their faith on McCarthy to be the franchise quarterback in the upcoming years. The Vikings had 5 draft picks this year in the 2025 NFL draft, which includes OL Donovan Jackson, who was picked in the first round of the draft as the 24th pick.

With McCarthy set to take the stage with a lot of confidence, and their WR Justin Jefferson continuing to be the star that he is, the Vikings aim to go deeper into the playoffs this season as they were knocked off the wild card round in 2024 by the L.A. Rams.
