Minnesota Lynx vs Phoenix Mercury Lineups, Sneak Peek

Minnesota Lynx: Excellence in their veins

The Lynx continue the tradition of top-tier WNBA teams capitalizing on their gains from the previous season. The 2024 finalists have yet to lose this season. Their latest conquest came against the expansion franchise, Golden State Valkyries.

The team won 86-75 as Napheesa Coillier had another stellar 24-point, 11-rebound affair. The Lynx continue to leave a tremendous impact on the defensive end, and the trio of Collier, Kayla McBride, and Courtney Williams is too much to handle. Their elaborate passing game (Last in pace) has left many teams in the dust again.

Phoenix Mercury: A promising start

Meanwhile, the Mercury will enter the game after an 85-80 win against the Los Angeles Sparks. They cut an 18-point first-half deficit as Satou Sabally had a phenomenal 24-point explosion. They won the game despite playing without their leading all-around player, Alyssa Thomas. Rookies Katja Laksa and Kathryn Westbeld combined for 30 points, once again proving the depth of the 2025 Draft Class.

They have the #1 defense in the league, restricting teams to around 76 points a game. The Mercury will look scarier once their isolation scorer Kahleah Copper returns.

Lynx have the edge

Anyway, defeating the Sparks was one thing, but the Lynx will be a tough match-up if Alyssa Thomas is out for the match. Minnesota is a better offensive tea,m and they know how to take care of elite defenses too.

At any rate, the Satou Sabally vs Napheesa Collier match-up will be the highlight here.

Mercury Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Monique Akoa Makani | SG: Kitija Laksa | SG/SF: Sami Whitcomb | SF/PF: Kathryrn Westbeld | PF/C: Satou Sabally

Key bench players: PG: Haley Jones, SG: Sevgi Uzun, SG: Lexi Held, C: Kalani Brown.

Injuries/Updates: Kahleah Copper is OUT till late June, Alyssa Thomas; status is UNCLEAR.

Lynx Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Courtney Williams | SG: Kayla McBridel | SF: Bridget Carleton | PF/C: Napheesa Collier | PF/C: Alanna Smith

Key bench players: SF: Karlie Samuelson, PF: Jessica Shephard, SF: Alissa Pili, PG: Natisha Hiederman.

Injuries/Updates: Nothing to report thus far.

Minnesota Lynx vs Phoenix Mercury Total Over/Under Prediction- WNBA Best Bets

These are among the two of the top three defensive teams in the league. Offensively, the Lynx are more capable of crossing the 80-point mark as they have done in 5 out of 7 games. On the other hand, Mercury has held teams to 80 or below in four of the five games.

Overall, I see a battle that will probably go under 160 points, considering the defensive chops of either squad.

Minnesota Lynx vs Phoenix Mercury Player Props Predictions- WNBA Betting Picks

Napheesa Collier O 23.5 points: Collier is having another stellar season, averaging 26.3 PPG currently. She has scored 24 or more in four of the six games. I expect her to be in the 24-27 range.

Satou Sabally O 8.5 rebounds: Sabally is having a season for ages. Apart from her scoring, she has been active on boards with 8 RPG. She can be in the 9-11 range here, too.

Kayla McBride to make O 2.5 three-pointers: Sharpshooting McBride has knocked 2 or more triples in each of her three appearances this season. I believe she will nail at least 3 here.

Main pick: Points: Napheesa Collier Over 23.5 points at BetMGM

Minnesota Lynx vs Phoenix Mercury Prediction

The Lynx come with an obvious edge here. They have more depth and experience than Mercury. Phoenix will pray that their all-around phenom Thomas is back to tackle the unstoppable Napheesa Collier here. Overall, the bookmakers have assigned a huge spread of -10.5 in favor of Minnesota.

I do see Lynx being the favorites, but I have faith that Phoenix can cover the spread here.
