After winning a championship in 2021, the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t returned to the NBA finals since. They acquired Damian Lillard just two seasons ago, and there was a lot of hope for the Bucks to return to the grand stage. However, things haven’t turned out the way they wanted to as defensive lapses, injuries, and various coaching changes have hindered the Bucks’ chances. While their franchise player and one of the best players across the globe, Giannis Antetokounmpo, has continued to dominate the court, the team that is built around him are not performing up to the mark.

The Bucks are currently sitting in the 5th seed in the East, and while that’s a good spot for most teams in the NBA, we believe that for them it is still a disappointment. So today we look at the Bucks’ playoffs history. Let’s get right into it.

How Many Times Have the Milwaukee Bucks Been to the NBA Playoffs?

Out of the 57 total seasons that the Bucks have played, they have made the playoffs 37 times and in the past 10 seasons they have won a total of 8 playoff series and made the playoffs 9 times (including the 2025 season).

The Bucks have made 3 finals appearances, 9 conference championships rounds, 18 second round appearances, and will now have 37 first round appearances after their win over the Miami Heat.

When Was the Milwaukee Bucks’ Last Playoff Appearance?

The Milwaukee Bucks played their last playoff game in 2024 where they faced the Indiana Pacers in the first round. There were championship aspirations for the Bucks last season. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo got injured at the very end of the regular season playing against the Boston Celtics, and without their best player there was only so much winning that the Bucks could do in the playoffs. So they were immediately bounced out of the first round.

Injuries have been one of the major factors as to why the Bucks have failed to make it to the NBA finals. Giannis has been struggling to stay healthy when the postseason arrives and that has seriously hurt their chances of making the finals, ever since 2021.

This season the Bucks acquired various pieces to help them keep their championship hopes alive. They brought in two great isolation scorers in Kyle Kuzma and Kevin Porter Jr. and traded away Khris Middleton who played a key part in the Bucks’ championship run in 2021. But an injury to Damian Lillard recently, has yet again created a lot of questions for the Bucks.

How Many Championships Have the Milwaukee Bucks Won?

The Bucks have won two out of the three total finals appearances, in 1971 and most recently in 2021. In 2021, the Bucks had arguably the best season in their franchise history. The Bucks won the NBA finals in 6 games after a historic 50 piece from the Greek Freak against the Phoenix Suns who were led by All-Star guard Devin Booker.

Even though the Bucks defeated the Suns in the finals, we believe that their toughest matchup was against the Brooklyn Nets in the 2021 NBA Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. The Nets had James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant all playing together and had Irving and Harden not been injured, we could have been looking at a different NBA champion today. The Nets took the Bucks all the way to 7 games but unfortunately for the Nets, Durant’s big toe cost them the win-or-go-home game. It was some of the greatest playoff battles we have ever seen between two future hall of famers in Antetokounmpo and Durant!
