Mercury vs Fever Ends In Nail-Biter As Boston’s Double And McDonald’s 27 Lead Indiana Win

Indiana pull off statement win as Boston shines, McDonald steps up, Thomas leads Phoenix offense

The Mercury vs Fever matchup turned into one of the most thrilling and high-scoring WNBA games of the week. The Phoenix side gave their all but the Fever emerged on top with their home court advantage.

The visitors had a prolific start scoring 30 points against 20. However, Indiana Fever responded strongly in the second quarter, outscoring Phoenix 35-20 and going into halftime with a much-needed five-point advantage.

This deficit was cut short by the Mercury in the third quarter with a 22-19 scoreline. The scoring was consistent throughout the Mercury vs. Fever game by both sides. This paved the way for a thrilling last 10 minutes.

Both Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury fought hard offensively in the fourth quarter, trading buckets in a tense finish. However, the home side was a notch better, scoring 33-29. They won the game by 107-101 on Wednesday.

Indiana Wins Big Despite Thomas’ Heroics

Aliyah Boston’s double-double proved crucial for the Indiana Fever in deciding the game’s direction. She scored 22 points, and grabbed 12 rebounds. While Aari McDonald smashed 27 points. Sophie Cunningham and Damiris Dantas each scored 12 points.

However, it was Alyssa Thomas who was the top performer in the Mercury vs. Fever game. The Phoenix forward smashed an impressive 32 points, 7 assists, and 15 rebounds. Kahleah Copper had 22 points while Sami Whitcomb scored for the Mercury.

In the locker room, Fever head coach Stephanie White passionately addressed her team after the big win saying, “Let’s go. I mean it was a hell of a job. Y’all that was a big win. We stacked a day. Right? We got to continue to stack. We ain’t got no room for sliding back. Okay? No room for Slippage.”

She added, “Every day there’s a sense of urgency. I was proud of you guys. The way offensive, and defensive substitutions, being ready to go with that. Everybody who came in and made an impact. We had five double figures, damn near seven. I’m proud of you guys.”
