Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors Shut Down by Raiders Management despite Perceived Interest from the Cowboys

Devavrat Kulkarni

Maxx Crosby could be in demand before the trade deadline!

The Dallas Cowboys started the season with the bold move of moving on from their best defensive player, pass rusher Micah Parsons. After trading their star defender to the Packers, Dallas has had a tough time getting pressure on the opposing quarterbacks.

With a 3-3-1 record after a stunning win over the Washington Commanders in week 7, the Cowboys are currently second in the NFC East, providing them a great opportunity to make a push towards the playoffs. But, for that, adding a dominant edge rusher as a replacement for Parsons could be ideal.

Former ESPN Analyst Hints at Cowboys Interest in Maxx Crosby

With the NFL trade deadline still a couple of weeks away, former ESPN NFL analyst Trey Wingo shared the news that the Cowboys had approached the Las Vegas Raiders for their pass rusher, Maxx Crosby, as per reports. Wingo posted the following on his X handle:

“Breaking: According to sources, the Cowboys have made inquiries with the Raiders about a potential trade for Maxx Crosby.”

This piece of news got many Cowboys fans excited, as adding Crosby to their defense would be massive. Not only is the Raiders’ marquee player one of the best in the league at his position, but he would instantly elevate Dallas’ defensive line to the same level had Parsons still been around.

Over his seven-year career in the NFL, Crosby has 63.5 sacks, 153 quarterback hits, and 115 tackles for loss. Crosby’s dominant play has continued this season, also with 4 sacks, 9 quarterback hits, and 10 tackles for loss. Thus, he would no doubt be a worthy addition to the Cowboys’ roster.

Raiders Not Looking to Trade Crosby

The Cowboys’ happiness was short-lived, however, as other reports emerged indicating that Dallas had made no such inquiries. Clarence Hill, a reporter for the Cowboys, insisted that no such talks between the two teams have taken place as of yet, although Dallas may be considering the option internally.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero posted on X that the Raiders’ management actually met with Crosby and assured him that they are not interested in trading him, as per sources. Pelissero also mentioned that while Crosby wants nothing more than to win, he wishes to do so with the Raiders and not another franchise.

The conflicting reports within the league have cast serious doubt on Crosby and his future. Other teams, apart from Dallas, may also be interested in acquiring him to improve their pass rush, but whether or not Vegas stands true to its word will be the question until the end of the trade deadline.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
