A Race Ban “Won’t Be the End of the World” for Max Verstappen!

Rohan Singh

Max Verstappen is not too affected by the looming threat of getting himself a race ban!

The entire Formula 1 paddock is looking forward to the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. However, Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen will have to stay extra careful. The four-time champion is facing the danger of a race ban. He acquired penalty points on his racing license during the Spanish GP weekend.

Red Bull Racing is already facing troubles this season. They have to rely on Max Verstappen for claiming the maximum points in the world championship. Verstappen himself is fighting for a world championship. However, Verstappen’s aggressive racing style isn’t helping them exactly. He will have to race clean in the upcoming weekends to get rid of the race ban. Three of his penalty points are going to expire after June. While, George Russell thinks that he deserves a race ban, Max Verstappen is nonchalant.

Max Verstappen Won’t Change His Driving Style

Max Verstappen is an aggressive driver. His racing style is usually focused to getting the best result for himself and giving opponents a difficult time. Often, Verstappen finds himself in precarious situations due to his racing style. It is also one of the big reasons for the 11 penalty points on his racing license. The stewards don’t particularly like him going out of his way to race other drivers too harsh.

In a recent interview, Max Verstappen was asked about the measures he will take to escape a race ban. His reply was something noone would have expected-

“Is it fair that I’m on 11 points? I don’t know. But at the same time, life is not fair, you know, so if you look at it like that, I don’t worry about it. I just come here to race and I will always race hard, race how I think I should race. And then we go on to the next race.”

A race ban will effectively put him out of contention from the world championship. He is clearly lagging behind the McLarens who have a massive lead going forward. If Verstappen misses a race, his fifth title is going to look almost impossible for him.

Red Bull Racing themselves cannot let their best driver miss a race. The team is facing a lot of struggle with their 2025 car. Their second driver is nowhere near as goos as Max Verstappen. If at all Max earns himself a race ban, Red Bull Racing will lose positions in the constructor’s championship.

Although, the situation Max is currently facing isn’t ideal either. In every weekend, he will have to go out of the way to claim podiums and victories. Its not going to be an easy task. Thus, Verstappen’s approach to racing is valid. If he doesn’t race hard and then the other drivers will pass him easily leaving him at a disadvantage. The Canadian GP is going to be the judge of his racing antics. If at all Verstappen earns himself a race ban, he will have to cover a big gap for himself and his team.
