In Formula 1 racing, there are new rumours everyday concerning various teams. The current F1 scenario is highly concentrated around one of the best drivers. Max Verstappen is facing multiple issues with his Red Bull Racing 2025 challenger. He is the defending champion but his title hopes in the 2025 season are dwindling down every weekend. As such, there are multiple speculations about Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull in favour of another team.

Mercedes are the prime contestants for the coveted pairing with Max Verstappen. The duo have not released any official statement regarding the same. However, Mercedes driver George Russell has pointed out that he facing delay in his new contract due to Verstappen. The general consensus of the paddock is that Toto Wolff is feverishly pursuing Max Verstappen. A new report from Sky Sports F1 has added fuel to fire.

Max Verstappen and Mercedes Are in Talks About Switching Teams

According to reports from Sky in Italy, Max Verstappen is willing to join Mercedes. Max Verstappen is under a contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of the 2028 season. However, in lieu of recent situation Verstappen may end up leaving the team in favour of Mercedes F1. Toto Wolff has increased his efforts to get Max Verstappen to sign a contract with Mercedes. The Mercedes board however is unsure about the same.

The team believes that the new regulations will help them regain their competitiveness in the championship and they may not need the best driver on grid for the same. Additionally, Mercedes will have to pay a large sum of money in order to free Verstappen from Red Bull.

The Dutchman has a clause in his contract. He can leave the team and break his contract If he is not among the top-4 drivers after the 2025 season.

Mercedes have not yet decided on their driver pairing for the next season. Kimi Antonelli is their prodigy and it is impossible to believe that the team would leave him after an explosive debut season. George Russell is the driver at risk currently. In case, he does not receive a contract with Mercedes F1 again, Russell will try to switch to either Red Bull or Aston Martin F1.
