The England Star Accepts a Pay Cut As Barcelona Finalize a Loan Deal With an Option To Buy.
FC Barcelona are set to unveil Marcus Rashford as their latest signing. They recently finalized a season-long loan deal with Manchester United. The move ends weeks of speculation and intense negotiations as the Catalan giants were determined to bolster their attacking options.
According to multiple reports, Barcelona have agreed to cover Rashford’s full salary during his loan spell. The 27-year-old England international currently earns around £325,000 (€375,000) per week at Manchester United. As per the new deal at Barcelona, he will reportedly take home approximately €14 million for the season.

There will be some performance-related bonuses and appearance incentives as well. Fabrizio Romano added that Rashford agreed to a 15% pay cut to help facilitate the move, while United refused to contribute to his wages. However, Mundo Deportivo suggests the pay cut may be even steeper.
They suggested that Rashford accepted as much as a 25% reduction. If their reports are to be believed, that much of a reduction would bring his net salary closer to €5.4 million annually. This financial adjustment was critical in allowing Barcelona to sign him.

If not, Barca couldn’t have stayed within La Liga’s strict salary cap rules. The loan agreement also includes a buy option set at €30–35 million (£26–30m). If they are impressed with and decide to buy, then Barcelona can activate the option in June 2026.
Rashford’s arrival at Camp Nou comes after Barcelona failed in attempts to sign Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and then Liverpool’s Luis Díaz earlier this summer. The forward reportedly made personal sacrifices to ensure that the transfer materialized.

He previously declared that he was ‘ready for a new challenge’ away from Old Trafford. The Englishman is coming to Spain after a mixed 2024–25 season. He scored just seven goals in 37 appearances for United. Despite this, Barcelona remain confident in Rashford’s ability to revive his form.
Rashford underwent his medical on Monday and is expected to be unveiled later this week. He could also feature in Barcelona’s upcoming pre-season tour of Asia, with friendlies scheduled against Vissel Kobe, Seoul, and Daegu.
