Manchester United have completed the signing of highly rated Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on Thursday morning. The Premier League side have reached an agreement worth around $1m for the 17-year-old. However, Cristian Orozco will officially join Old Trafford in the summer of 2026.
Notably, Orozco is captain of Colombia’s Under-17 national team and is regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in South America. Predominantly a defensive midfielder, he impressed during last year’s U-17 South American Championship, where he led his country to the final. Despite not yet making his first-team debut for Fortaleza, he has already earned nine youth international caps, highlighting both his leadership qualities and technical ability.

Cristian Orozco’s signing continues United’s push to secure emerging talent from all over the world. The teenager’s arrival followd the recent additions of Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, Ayden Heaven and Diego Leon. Orozco’s intensity, reading of the game and composure in midfield have earned him comparisons with established senior players. United’s scouts view him as another long-term investment for the club’s future.

Orozco’s combative style and leadership qualities have already drawn comparisons to Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, whose contract runs out at the end of the season. With the 33-year-old Brazilian expected to depart, the midfield rebuild is already underway, and Orozco could eventually develop into a long-term successor to Casemiro.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United’s legal team approved all contracts, while the move was coordinated by lead scout Antonaccio. Currently sitting 14th in the Premier League after six matches, United will now shift their focus back to on-field matters. Ruben Amorim’s side are preparing to host newly promoted Sunderland at Old Trafford this weekend before the international break.
