In what could become one of the most sensational moves of the summer, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly given his approval for a transfer to Serie A giants Napoli. De Bruyne is set to become a free agent this summer, bringing an end to his legendary 10-year stint at the Etihad Stadium.

The 32-year-old has been a key figure in Manchester City’s era of dominance under Pep Guardiola. But De Bruyne is now ready for a new challenge in his illustrious career. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Belgian playmaker has instructed his agents to open talks with the Italian club, aiming to finalise the deal before the end of the season.

De Bruyne Eager for Napoli Move

Napoli are currently top of the Serie A table with 78 points from 36 matches. As per Tavolieri’s report, De Bruyne wants the deal wrapped up quickly, ideally before heading on his summer vacation. The stylish midfielder has been linked to clubs all over the world, including the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer, but sources close to the player suggest that he is eager to settle his future in Europe. Adding more fuel to the transfer speculation, Kevin De Bruyne’s wife Michele Lacroix has reportedly been spotted in Naples, where she is believed to have been house-hunting.

Despite interest from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, De Bruyne appears to have set his sights firmly on Napoli. One key factor influencing the former Chelsea player’s decision is his close friendship with Dries Mertens, a former Napoli hero and teammate from the Belgian national team. The midfielder is also believed to value regular UEFA Champions League football, a priority Napoli can offer.

The Belgian midfielder, who will turn 34 in June, has been a cornerstone of City’s success since his arrival from Wolfsburg in 2015. Over the past 10 years, De Bruyne has amassed an incredible 16 trophies with the Manchester giants, including six Premier League titles and the club’s long-awaited UEFA Champions League triumph in 2023. Widely regarded as one of the finest midfielders of his generation, De Bruyne’s vision and creativity have helped redefine City’s identity under Pep Guardiola.
