Atalanta BC vs Roma Serie A – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Abhinav Goel

Claudio Ranieri’s Roma side have now registered five 1-0 away victories in their last six away trips in the league.

With Champions League qualification hanging in the balance, third-placed Atalanta welcome an in-form Roma side in a pivotal Serie A clash on Monday night. Atalanta remain in the driver’s seat with their fate firmly in their own hands. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men thrashed Monza 4-0 last weekend, with Charles De Ketelaere finally breaking his league scoring drought by bagging a clinical brace. Atalanta’s defence has been solid recently as they have kept three clean sheets in last four league outings.

On the other hand, Roma are the league’s most in-form team. They have surged back into the top-four picture after another 1-0 win over Fiorentina. Goalkeeper Mile Svilar played a key role with vital stops to protect his team’s slender lead and Claudio Ranieri’s side have now registered five 1-0 away victories in their last six away trips. The Giallorossi are just one point behind Juventus and Lazio with a game in hand.

Atalanta BC Injury News

Atalanta face some selection concerns ahead of their crucial Serie A showdown with Roma with star winger Ademola Lookman a major doubt due to an inflamed Achilles tendon. The Nigerian’s absence could deprive Atalanta of a key attacking option.

The hosts are also without a number of long-term absentees: Gianluca Scamacca, Juan Cuadrado, Sead Kolasinac, and Giorgio Scalvini will all miss the remainder of the season while Isak Hien is suspended for this fixture. Austrian full-back Stefan Posch will face a late fitness test due to a thigh issue. However, Odilon Kossounou, who was withdrawn at half-time against Monza, has recovered fully and is available for selection.

The player to watch out for will be Atalanta top scorer Mateo Retegui, who is expected to lead the line here. The Italian striker has netted 24 goals in Serie A this season and is just one shy of breaking Filippo Inzaghi’s club record set in the 1996-97 campaign.

Atalanta BC Predicted Line-Up

Carnesecchi; Kossounou, Djimsiti, De Roon; Bellanova, Ederson, Pasalic, Zappacosta; De Ketelaere, Brescianini; Retegui

Roma Serie A Injury News

Roma will be without their influential captain Lorenzo Pellegrini for the trip to Bergamo after the midfielder sustained a muscle injury in training. His absence is expected to open the door for youngster Niccolo Pisilli.

In attack, Paulo Dybala remains sidelined with a season-ending injury suffered in April. While the Argentine playmaker won’t feature on the pitch again this term, he continues to support the squad from the sidelines. The club has confirmed that Dybala will travel with the team to Bergamo and be present at the Gewiss Stadium for this match.

With Dybala unavailable, head coach Claudio Ranieri is likely to continue with the forward duo of Eldor Shomurodov and Artem Dovbyk, who have been leading the line in recent weeks. The pair will be tasked with unlocking a resolute Atalanta defence.

Roma Predicted Line-Up

Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka; Soule, Cristante, Kone, Angelino; Pisilli; Shomurodov, Dovbyk
