Manchester City Midfielder Joins Serie A Side Como on Permanent Deal

He featured 26 times in Serie A last season, registering three assists while showcasing his defensive qualities.

Manchester City have finalised the permanent transfer of one of their midfielders to Serie A club Como. The transfer was completed following a successful loan spell in Italy during the 2024/25 season. The player impressed under Cesc Fabregas’ guidance as Como finished 10th in their first season back in the top flight.

The player in question is midfielder Maximo Perrone. The 22-year-old Argentine midfielder had been on City’s books since 2022. Perrone has signed a four-year contract with the Italian club after impressing during his loan spell last season. He featured 26 times in Serie A last season, registering three assists while showcasing his defensive qualities with 27 successful tackles from 38 attempts.

His performances convinced Como to make the move permanent, with the midfielder signing a four-year contract. Perrone initially joined City from Velez Sarsfield but struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s first team. He made just two appearances during the club’s historic treble-winning 2022/23 campaign. He also collected a UEFA Super Cup medal in 2023 before heading out on loan to Las Palmas, where he gained valuable La Liga experience with 30 appearances.

His permanent switch to Como brings his time at Manchester City to a close. The move represents an exciting opportunity for the midfielder to establish himself further in Serie A. The youngster has already impressed Como fans with his versatility and game-reading ability under Fabregas.

Following Maximo Perrone’s permanent transfer to Como, head coach Cesc Fabregas praised the Argentine midfielder’s impact during his loan spell last season. He described the midfielder as a “key figure” in the Como squad. Despite making just 26 appearances last season due to injury, Perrone played more minutes than in his previous loan stint.

The 22-year-old’s performances convinced Como to make his stay permanent as they look to build on last season’s success. His tenacity and tactical intelligence impressed Fabregas, who was keen to ensure Perrone stayed at the club long-term. Fabregas said,

“We’re thrilled to welcome Maxi to the Como family on a permanent deal. He settled in quickly last season, understood exactly how we want to play, and became a key figure in the team.”
