Magic vs Warriors Injury Report- Will Jonathan Kuminga play tonight? Latest update on Golden State Warriors star

Jonathan Kuminga has missed 24 straight games now.

The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for their five-match road trip. In the first game of the road trip, they will be up against the Orlando Magic on Thursday, February 27. The Warriors recently became the fifth NBA franchise to win 3,000 games, and they will head into the game on the back of a four-match winning streak.

While Steve Kerr’s side have seemingly found their long-lost rhythm, they are without their power forward Jonathan Kuminga for more than a month now. Kuminga has been out of action since the right ankle injury he sustained during the Memphis’ game in early January. He has missed 24 straight games now.

Playing a key role for the side in games before his injury, there is still no confirmation about Kuminga’s return. There were reports that he is in the final stages of his rehabilitation and is awaiting a green signal. He might make his return in the middle of the trip.

Recently, Warriors’ newest star Jimmy Butler opened up about his teammate’s return and said that he is willing to make things easier for him. “He’s super athletic, he can shoot, he can score a lot of different ways…and he can defend. I think he’s going to come back and just keep doing what he does. My job is to make things even easier for him,” Butler said.

Will Jonathan Kuminga play tonight against Orlando Magic?

Jonathan Kuminga has participated in five-on-five scrimmages, showing positive signs of his return. While he will travel with the eighth-seeded Western Conference side, there is still time for him to make his return.

Ahead of the first game, Anthony Slater of The Athletic shared an update about Kuminga. He said that the 22-year-old will remain out of the Magic game but there is a possibility that he returns to the court during the road trip.

Slater wrote, Jonathan Kuminga will remain out in Orlando tomorrow night to open the Warriors’ road trip. Still waiting on final Rick Celebrini green light. He’s been scrimmaging. At final stage of return from ankle injury. Middle of road trip a possibility.”

Before his injury, Kuminga played a key role for the side in their wins. In 32 games that he was featured in this season, Kuminga averaged 16.8 points, 5 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Apart from him, the Warriors might be without Trayce Jackson-Davis, as he is listed questionable on the injury report with Illness. On the other hand, Moritz Wagner is listed out of the season for the Orlando Magic. The seventh-seeded team in the West will also be without Jalen Suggs due to quadriceps injury. Cole Anthony is listed as questionable with knee injury.
