Lynx vs. Wings – Minnesota Survive a Scare in Arlington as WNBA Showdown Ends in Heartbreak for Dallas

The Minnesota Lynx continued their dominant run in the WNBA with another win on the Sunday night. The game between the Dallas Wings and the Lynx was played at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.

The Dallas Wings’ struggles continued into their 10th game of the campaign. The Lynx scored 24 points in the first quarter while the home side trailed by 10. However, the second quarter saw some fight from the Wings.

Surprisingly, they outscored last season’s runners-up, showing there was still fight in them. This comeback was on the backs of Arike Ogunbowale. Dallas entered the second half with urgency, dismantling the Minnesota Lynx quarter by quarter.

Maddy Siegrist and Arike Ogunbowale led the charge, helping their team outscore the Lynx 17–11. It was a one point game going into the fourth quarter. The College Park Center roared at full volume, backing the home side.

However, Wings undid all their efforts with a disastrous performance in the final 10 minutes. Dallas hit a brutal scoreless stretch as Minnesota leaned on experience and kept adding points. Minnesota poured in 24 points in the final quarter, while the Wings managed just nine. Minnesota Lynx won the game by 81-65.

Paige Bueckers Misses Out

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers missed Sunday’s WNBA clash against the Minnesota Lynx. This despite, her clearing the concussion period. Wings might have sealed it in the fourth had Paige Bueckers been available. They lacked the scoring threat while Lynx kept adding points.

According to the Dallas Wings’ management, Paige Bueckers suffered illness and didn’t have the physical strength to hit the court. It’s unclear if Bueckers will return for their next game against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday.

The only silver lining for the Dallas Wings’ from the Sunday game remains Arike Ogunbowale’s 26 points and Maddy Siegrist’s 15 points. Both were a constant threat throughout the game. But they couldn’t outlast efforts from Naphessa Collier (28 points) and Kayla McBride (21 points).
