Throughout his six seasons in the NBA, Walker played for the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Lonnie Walker IV is back in the NBA. The shooting guard/small forward signed a two-year, $3.7 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday (18th).
After playing for the Brooklyn Nets last season, Walker signed with the Boston Celtics for their training camp. However, he didn’t make the final roster and decided to play in Europe. He reached an agreement with Zalgiris Kaunas, a team in Lithuania, to compete in the EuroLeague, with a clause in his contract that allowed him to return to the NBA. Just a few months later, Walker joins the 76ers, who are in need of perimeter help.

Throughout his six seasons in the NBA, Walker played for the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets. However, it was only in his third season that he began to make an impact in games. Since then, he has averaged 11.2 points per game with a 35.2% three-point shooting rate, which was over 38% last season with the Nets.

Despite his scoring ability, his defensive play and lack of consistency have made it difficult for Walker to find his footing in the NBA. Now, this is exactly what Philadelphia needs in the absence of Jared McCain and Paul George, who were expected to be the team’s perimeter scorers alongside Tyrese Maxey at the beginning of the season. Additionally, with the team ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference, the 76ers don’t have much to lose at this point in the season: they are currently out of the play-in with 28 games remaining.
The team is also hoping for a healthier Joel Embiid as the season progresses. If Embiid and Paul George can stay healthy, the team may start to show signs of a potential turnaround.
