Liverpool Target PSG Star Bradley Barcola As Alexander Isak Deal Hangs in Balance

Abhinav Goel

With less than a month to go before the summer transfer window closes, Liverpool are still actively shaping their squad for the upcoming season. Liverpool have already made a strong statement with the signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. But their business is far from over.

The Merseyside giants remain relentless in their pursuit of Alexander Isak, though Newcastle United continue to stand firm. The Magpies rejected Liverpool’s opening offer of £110 million for Isak and are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to £150 million to consider letting go of their star striker. The Swedish striker was made to train separately from the Newcastle squad after skipping their pre-season tour of Asia

Bradley Barcola Emerges As Liverpool’s ‘Dream Target’

As a result, the Reds are exploring contingency plans if their pursuit of Alexander Isak fails to materialize. Reports from French media claimed that Liverpool are now exploring alternative routes and Barcola is firmly on their radar.

On Wednesday evening, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that PSG attacker Bradley Barcola has emerged as a ‘dream target’ for Liverpool if Newcastle United continue to play hardball over Isak. In an update on his YouTube channel, Romano said,

“In case the Isak deal can’t happen because Newcastle decide to close their doors, Bradley Barcola is the dream option in terms of wingers. For Liverpool, the striker is Isak. If they can’t get him, there is a possibility to go for a winger. Barcola is seen as a dream target internally at Liverpool.”

Barcola had a breakout season with Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 21 goals and contributing 19 assists in all competitions. The 22-year-old played a vital role in PSG’s domestic dominance and their first-ever Champions League title, a run that notably saw them eliminate Liverpool.

With Darwin Nunez heading to Al Hilal, the Reds could find themselves short in attack heading into the new Premier League season. Liverpool currently only have Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike and promising teenager Rio Ngumoha as their main forward options.

For now, Isak remains Liverpool’s priority, and Romano confirmed that no official contact has yet been made with either Barcola or PSG. But with the deadline looming and Newcastle staying firm on their ‘not for sale’ stance, a high-profile Plan B may soon be activated.
