Liverpool Register Sixth Loss in Seven Games After 0-3 Defeat Against Nottingham Forest

The alarming collapse of Liverpool deepened at Anfield as Arne Slot’s side fell 0-3 to Nottingham Forest. The defending champions have drifted quite far from last season’s standards. Forest capitalised again as soon as the second half began. They doubled their lead through a sweeping move that carved through Liverpool’s defence far too easily. Their third goal arrived late on after sustained pressure. But it sent a stream of red seats emptying early. Forest’s performance was everything Liverpool’s wasn’t.

It was structured, confident, and decisive in the 18-yard box. Their organisation snuffed out any hope of a comeback when Liverpool’s attacks grew more frantic and disjointed. Even the introduction of extra forwards did little to shift momentum. Instead, it created more space for Forest to counter and exploit defensive gaps.

A Crisis Compounded by Individual Struggles

The pressure on Slot intensified as marquee signing Alexander Isak endured another difficult outing. The club-record signing struggled to impose himself. He could rarely link with midfield or pose a threat behind Forest’s back line. His substitution just after the hour mark felt inevitable.

It also felt symbolic of a wider issue: Liverpool’s new-look attack has not clicked. Their investment has not yet translated into performances. Slot accepted responsibility after the loss. He admitted that his side “weren’t able to create enough” and acknowledged that his tactical tweaks had “not worked out.”

Those sentiments were echoed by captain Virgil van Dijk. He described the situation as “very, very difficult” and emphasised that the team “conceded too many easy goals.” It beatd truth as Liverpool are lacking control in midfield, their vulnerability at set pieces persists, and defensive structure collapses far too easily under pressure.

The champions now find themselves drifting toward mid-table. It’s a stark contrast to the authority they displayed only months ago. Slot insists his players are continuing to push, but the current trajectory demands swift solutions. Their many problems have turned into a full-scale crisis, one that threatens to derail their season before winter arrives.
