Liverpool Champions League Opponents for 2025/26: Who are they playing, Where and When?

Ritam Dey

Liverpool’s path through the new-look UEFA Champions League league phase has been confirmed, with the Reds drawn against eight different opponents for the 2025/26 edition. Arne Slot’s side, who topped the inaugural league phase last season before falling to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain in the knockouts, will be eager to go further this time around.

The challenge ahead looks testing but full of intrigue, with heavyweight clashes against European giants, tricky away trips, and a schedule that will demand both depth and consistency from the Premier League champions. With the expanded format seeing every club play eight fixtures—four at Anfield and four on the road—the order and timing of these games could prove decisive in Liverpool’s pursuit of another deep Champions League run.

Liverpool Champions League Opponents

Liverpool’s draw has produced a blend of historic rivals, top-tier opposition, and dangerous outsiders. Real Madrid headline the fixtures, with the Spanish giants returning to Anfield in what promises to be another enthralling chapter in one of Europe’s most compelling modern rivalries. Inter Milan, the pot one opponent away from home, offer a stern challenge at the San Siro, while Atletico Madrid’s visit to Merseyside will test the Reds’ resilience against Diego Simeone’s notoriously stubborn side.

Eintracht Frankfurt, drawn from pot two, present an awkward away task, especially given their strong European pedigree. PSV Eindhoven and Marseille add further intrigue as familiar foes with attacking styles, while Qarabag and Galatasaray round out the list, each providing unique tests in very different environments. The draw ensures Liverpool will need to balance intensity at home with composure in challenging away atmospheres, but the Reds will fancy their chances of once again finishing in the top eight to secure direct qualification for the last 16.

Liverpool UCL 2025/26 League Phase Fixtures

Liverpool’s eight confirmed opponents are split evenly between home and away fixtures:

Home Matches (Anfield):

  • Real Madrid
  • Atletico Madrid
  • PSV Eindhoven
  • Qarabag

Away Matches:

  • Inter Milan
  • Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Marseille
  • Galatasaray

While no fixture order has yet been finalised, the advantage of hosting both Madrid clubs at Anfield cannot be overstated, with the atmosphere likely to play a decisive role in those encounters. Conversely, away trips to Galatasaray and Marseille promise hostile atmospheres, while Frankfurt and Inter offer challenging footballing tests. The full schedule will be released by UEFA no later than August 30, with the campaign kicking off on September 16.
