Liverpool after a successful campaign have been on the move in the transfer window. After sorting Jeremie Frimpong as Alexander-Arnold’s replacement, the Reds have their eyes on Florian Wirtz from Bayern Leverkusen. This will be the second player from the club they show interest in following the negotiations in advance talks.

Wirtz is speculated to have a strong desire to play for Liverpool. Amid the strong interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester City, the German midfielder is keen on making a move to Anfield as per latest reports. Moreover, in an attempt to sign Wirtz, Liverpool is said to have submitted a deal worth over €130 million as per the latest reports.

Negotiations Intensify to Seal Wirtz’s Move to Liverpool

After winning the Premier League in his first campaign with Liverpool, Arne Slot is keen on strengthening the squad. Seeing Wirtz as a perfect fit for his tactics, the Dutch manager has advanced the talks of signing the 22-year-old over the summer.

Should Slot and Liverpool manage to secure Wirtz’s move, he could also become the highest-paid player at Anfield. In his latest report, Famous Journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned “The structure of the add-ons is the final detail being negotiated between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz. The deal is expected to happen soon, as it’s always been the case: optimism and not a long saga.”

Wirtz is evaluated to be around €150 million with add-ons as Liverpool has submitted a bid of around €130 million as per Romano. Liverpool who look to combine Wirtz with players like Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are set to have an elite depth in their midfield.

Wirtz has contributed with 10 goals and 12 assists in the Bundesliga 2024/25 season as Leverkusen finished second. Having 45 G/A in the Bundesliga over two seasons, Wirtz flourished under Xabi Alonso’s management. Moreover, the youngster has also been a regular for Germany as he started five games at the UEFA Nations League and three at the Euro 2024.

Liverpool who look to improvise on their already glorious season will head to the Club World Cup 2025 in June. Having to fill the voids and add strength, Slot could test his new signings in America should they secure the ongoing transfer negotiations.
