The Minnesota Lynx proved their WNBA title credentials once again against the New York Liberty on Sunday. The Liberty vs. Lynx match was played at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York.

Both sides matched each other closely in the first quarter, delivering sharp offense and high-tempo basketball. The Lynx outscored New York by 25-24. However, the home side emerged ahead in the second quarter with 14-11.

That proved the turning point for the New York Liberty, as the Lynx delivered a decisive performance in the following minutes. Their offense picked up the pace and hit 30 points, while the home side settled for 19 in the third quarter.

“It’s honestly been really easy. They move the ball, I run the floor, we cut, we screen, we pass the ball until we get a really good shot. There’s no egos, no selfishness. I love it. It’s made it really easy on me.”

The Minnesota Lynx maintained their composure and hit 17-14 in the final 10 minutes. This sealed their commanding 83-71 victory to extend their dominance in the WNBA season standings. They now sit comfortably at the top position of the points table with 27 wins and 5 losses.

Lynx overpower Liberty with Balanced Scoring

Kayla McBridge started in the Liberty vs. Lynx match, scoring 18 points for the visitors. Dijonai Carrington also had a fine start to her Lynx days with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Natisha Hiedeman scored 13 points in just 15 minutes of action.

For the Liberty, Natasha Cloud scored 14 points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds. Their front court and back court both looked rugged. No other player managed to register more than 11 in the side.

New York Liberty coach Sandy Brondello after the game said, “I give Minnesota credit. We didn’t make them feel uncomfortable, and they made us feel really uncomfortable. We lacked a little bit of discipline, and how we wanted to run it. We weren’t on our front foot.”

She added, “Some of the passes we threw, no one was open, especially into the back court. I don’t know what we were looking at. I think we were just rattled. We got to settle them down. I have got to do a better job of setting them down there. Minnesota played a little bit harder.”
