Liberty vs Fever – New York Extend Fever’s Misery Without Caitlin Clark, Cruise Past In Home Win

Indiana missed a key player as Liberty flipped the game after halftime.

The Indiana Fever suffered another defeat and now their playoffs chances are likely to get affected. The New York Liberty smashed the Fever, who remained without their ace player Caitlin Clark.

Both teams started strong in the opening quarter, setting a competitive tone early on in the Liberty vs. Fever clash. The back and forth ended with the New York Liberty taking a 23-22 lead. The Indiana Fever made a comeback in the second quarter.

Indiana surged ahead with a 24-19 second quarter, briefly seizing momentum by taking a three point lead at the end of the first half. Indiana looked in control by halftime, capitalizing on Liberty’s cold shooting stretch.

During the second half, the New York Liberty stepped up their game and delivered some brilliant performances. They scored 27 points against Fever’s 21, and took back the lead. Continuing the momentum, the hosts blew out the Fever by 29-17 in the final quarter.

Jonquel Jones led the charge with 18 points and 9 boards, dominating both ends of the floor. Leonie Fiebich and Breanna Stewart scored 17 each. Kelsey Mitchell scored 29 points for the Fever, while Aliyah Boston and Sophie Cunningham scored 15 each. The Liberty vs. Fever game ended with New York winning 98-84.

Hull Speaks On Clark’s Mental Strength

Lexie Hull recently spoke on the injury issues revolving around Caitlin Clark. The Indiana Fever star missed her second straight game due to a groin injury. She has now missed a total of 11 games out of 24 this season.

Lexie Hull said, “I mean, there’s frustration there, you know, ‘Why now? Why me?’ Those types of questions. But I think she has a good head on her shoulders. She’ll be fine. She’s got a good support system in her teammates, in her friends, in her family. So, she’ll be better. She’ll be better from this.”

Clark accompanied the team to New York instead of staying back in Indianapolis, seeking further evaluation from specialists.
