Lewis Hamilton Retorts Against Media, Red Bull Responds To Comments Against Max Verstappen

Lewis Hamilton had a far from perfect start to his Ferrari career at the Australian Grand Prix. The seven-time champion was facing a lot of problems in his first race. Hamilton was unable to capitalise during the rain swept race. He ended up with only one point from the Australian Grand Prix. Amongst other issues, Hamilton’s radio messages were highlighted by the media. Hamilton and Leclerc’s radio messages ended up becoming the talk of the town. While Leclerc’s radio ended up becoming a meme, people blasted Ferrari for disturbing Lewis.

As a new driver, Hamilton has to settle down with his new team. He had been with Peter Bonnington for more than a decade. There were some communication errors between Lewis and his new race engineer, Riccardo Adami. Adami was reportedly teaching Lewis Hamilton about his car. At one point, Hamilton seemed to be annoyed with his constant meddling. He promptly shut down his race engineer asking him to stop giving him information when he didn’t need it. The media had other plans however, and Hamilton’s Australian Grand Prix is the talk of the town.

Lewis Hamilton Slams Media for Exaggeration

In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Lewis Hamilton explained his situation during the Australian Grand Prix. He clarified that his conversations with his race engineer were simply a normal back-and-forth discussion. Additionally, Hamilton also highlighted the fact that he was very polite with his engineer adding “please” to his messages.

He seemed quite disappointed with the fact that the media was trying to bring up this issue and create a controversy. Hamilton has confirmed that there are no issues between him and his race engineer and he is just getting used to the team. According to Lewis Hamilton the reason for his radio messages was-

“So it was just at that point, I was really struggling with the car and I needed full focus on these couple of things.”

However, Hamilton did not stop at this. He said that his conduct was much more disciplined than other racing drivers. He emphasised on the politeness of his behaviour. Hamilton said that he never swore at his race engineer or tried to bash him in frustration. Going a step further, he drew a comparison between himself and his rival, Max Verstappen.

“But unfortunately, you make… the conversation that Max has with an engineer over the years, the abuse that the poor guy’s taken and you never write about it, but you wrote about the smallest little discussion I had with mine.”

Red Bull’s Response to Lewis Hamilton

It is a well known fact that Max Verstappen has some heated converstations with race engineer. Max Verstappen and Gianpiero Lambiase have engaged in many tussles over the past few years. He often sends a barrage of curses over the radio if the race is not going his way. Although, the fact remains that Lambiase and Verstappen are still known as one of the best duos of the grid.

Christian Horner has also called them a “married couple”, visibly amused by their interactions. Additionally, it is known that Gianpiero Lambiase rejected a ludicrous offer by one of the teams to stay at Red Bull. Red Bull Racing were definitely upset with Hamilton’s comment. They conveyed their message in a sneaky post on their social media. The post featured Max Verstappen and Gianpiero Lambiase and their best moments together.
