German Winger Signs Three-Year Deal With Turkish Champions.

Leroy Sane is set to begin a new chapter in his career. He has joined the Turkish champions Galatasaray on a three-year contract after opting not to renew his deal with Bayern Munich. He has a number of offers but the 29-year-old German international chose the Turkey club.

Sane had multiple offers from Arsenal, Al Hilal, and Fenerbahce. Even so, looking for a prominent role, he chose to move to the club in Turkey. The agreement, first reported by The Athletic and later confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, sees Sané set to earn €15 million per year net until 2028.

Sane is scheduled to travel to Istanbul for his medical and final contract signing soon. It will see the ending of a five-year spell at Bayern where he succeeded as he won four Bundesliga titles. Reportedly interest from Arsenal were strong enough that the Gunners held talks with Sane’s representatives.

Even so, it seems that the winger was drawn by Galatasaray’s ambitious project and guaranteed playing time. As per reports, Sane even turned down an improved offer from Bayern. It shows how strongly he wanted to move for a fresh start and a leading role away from Europe’s traditional elite.

Leroy Sane Career So Far and Galatasaray’s Ambition

Sane began his career at Schalke before a four-year stint at Manchester City. He won two Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola in England. In 2020, he moved to Bayern Munich for a fee rising to €60 million. In Germany, he made 220 appearances throughout and scored 61 goals and provided 55 assists.

Last season, however, Sane’s impact began to wane. He made 45 appearances in all competitions last season, but only started 25 games, registering 13 goals and six assists. Despite his reduced minutes, he remained a key figure across multiple managerial reigns. That includes Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel, and Vincent Kompany’s time at the club.

Now, Galatasaray aims to leverage his experience and pedigree in their Champions League campaign. The move is being hailed as one of the most high-profile Turkish signings in recent years. On the other hand, Sane’s departure also benefits Bayern financially. It will clear space in their wage structure as they prepare for a summer rebuild.

Meanwhile, Fans are already preparing for a grand unveiling at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium. It can be expected that Sane will be introduced to supporters in spectacular fashion. His arrival not only boosts Galatasaray’s on-field options during the Super Lig next season, but also helps their case in the Champions League.
