The excitement for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is off the charts as the tournament will be revived in a whole new form, with 32 teams taking part in the Club World Cup for the first time. Multiple superstars from Europe, South America, North America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania will come together for a one-month tournament that will be the longest Club World Cup in history.
When Alvaro Morata missed the penalty kick against Portugal in the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League final, most tacticians and pundits around the world stressed on the fact that you cannot field a player who is not sharp in front of goal or someone who is not at his best currently at such a big stage of the tournament. So, all the clubs participating in the tournament would hope to ensure that their forwards are in top form and enter the Club World Cup with motivation to lift the trophy at the end of the competition.
Real Madrid forwards Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Junior will be lighting it up for the five-time champions as Los Blancos open their campaign against Al-Hilal. 2024-25 UEFA Champions League winners Paris St. Germain will also have world-class forwards like Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on show, and it would be interesting to see if the two clubs clash at any stage of the competition.
English clubs Manchester City and Chelsea also have prolific marksmen in Erling Haaland, Omar Marmoush, Pedro Neto, and Cole Palmer, as the quartet representing English clubs are also big contenders to win the Top Scorer award in the upcoming tournament. Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy, Inter Milan skipper Lautaro Martinez, Atlético Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth and Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi are also strong contenders to finish as top scorers if their teams reach the further stages of the knockout rounds.
