Ravens star QB Lamar Jackson left practice early after an injury scare.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson gave his team and fans a scare on Wednesday when he left training camp practice early after being knocked down on a pass play. According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Jackson walked off with team physicians and strength and conditioning coach Scott Elliott to address what initially appeared to be a hand or wrist issue. A team representative later confirmed that Jackson was fine, clarifying his foot had been stepped on and he avoided any serious injury.

The sight of Jackson leaving the field raised immediate concern, especially given his importance to Baltimore’s offense. Jamison Hensley reported that the two-time MVP stayed on the field for a couple of plays before heading indoors roughly 90 minutes into practice. Early speculation centered on a possible wrist injury, but team officials emphasized it was nothing more than a foot being stepped on. The Ravens reassured fans following practice that he’s fine.

Jackson got knocked down making a throw. He stayed in for a few plays but appeared to be flexing his hand/wrist.
The Ravens will close out their preseason against the Washington Commanders on Saturday, and Jackson has yet to attempt a pass in exhibition play. While the injury scare was brief, it underscored how devastating even minor setbacks can feel when they involve a franchise quarterback. Losing Jackson, one of the NFL’s premier dual-threat signal-callers, would instantly derail Baltimore’s season.
The numbers speak for themselves. Jackson is coming off a 2024 campaign where he threw for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns, and just four interceptions, while also rushing for 915 yards and four scores. His resume already includes two MVP awards, first in 2019 when he revolutionized the league with 36 touchdown passes and 1,206 rushing yards, and again in 2023 with a balanced season of 3,678 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 821 rushing yards. Few quarterbacks in history have matched that production.

That’s why even a momentary injury scare rattled the organization and its fanbase. For now, the Ravens appear to have dodged a worst-case scenario, with Jackson escaping the session with nothing more than a sore foot. Still, the franchise will keep a close eye on its superstar in the coming days as it looks to enter the regular season at full strength.
