Lamar Jackson Injury Concern Poses Serious Questions Marks over Ravens Season

Trouble in Baltimore with concern over Lamar Jackson's hamstring injury!

The Baltimore Ravens visited the Kansas City Chiefs in a critical Week 4 game. The late afternoon window on Sunday had two teams with a 1-2 record lock horns in a bid to avoid a 1-3 start to their respective seasons.

The Chiefs took home the win with a resounding 37-20 victory over their AFC rivals, and even as Baltimore slumped to three losses from four games, it is perhaps the hamstring injury suffered by quarterback Lamar Jackson that is more concerning at the moment.

Lamar Jackson Leaves Game Following Injury

About midway into the third quarter, Lamar Jackson took off from the backfield on a 3rd and 1 but was sacked well behind the line of scrimmage by George Karlaftis. It was on this play that Jackson suffered a hamstring injury that forced him to sit out the remainder of the game, down 27-10 at the time.

Replays of the play failed to show any noticeable damage to Jackson, who was able to get up immediately and make his way to the sideline without much discomfort. In fact, Ravens coach later commented after the game that he was not sure about the exact play on which his quarterback suffered the injury.

Nevertheless, if the injury is serious, that could lead to the two-time NFL MVP missing out on the upcoming few weeks of action. Jackson is set to undergo tests on Monday to get a better idea. Should the hamstring require time to heal, it will put the Ravens’ season in jeopardy at 1-3 through 4 weeks.

Tony Romo Deeply Concerned for the Ravens

Former NFL quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys turned NFL analyst, Tony Romo, voiced his deep concerns after the game with regards to Jackson’s injury. Romo expressed that Baltimore is not capable of winning games relying solely on its defense, and if Jackson is to end up missing the next couple of weeks, this could severely impact their season.

The fact of the matter is that the Ravens are struggling with just one win in four games. However, they also played and lost to three of the league’s top teams, the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and the Kansas City Chiefs (based more so on their recent seasons and not this year).

Their upcoming schedule is going to be easier with the next three games coming against the Texans, Rams, and the Bears. The main issue at hand is that without Jackson under center, the onus will fall upon backup quarterback Cooper Rush to deliver.

If Jackson cannot play in the upcoming weeks, there is a strong chance that Baltimore could end up losing 1 or 2 more games, something the Ravens simply cannot afford at this juncture of their season.
