Both of them are now returning to Madrid for further tests. The timing raises unavoidable questions. Mbappe not only completed the full 90 minutes against Ukraine, but he was also instrumental. He delivered two goals and an assist in a match that secured France’s place at the 2026 World Cup.
Despite no obvious signs of physical struggle during the game, staff opted for caution. Especially as the ankle had troubled him earlier in the campaign.
