Kylian Mbappe Injury Update: Real Madrid Ace Sent Back Early from France Camp, What Happened?

Moumita Dutta

Kylian Mbappe has received fresh bad news at a time when both France and Real Madrid would have preferred stability. The forward has been carrying immense responsibility for both his club and country this season. He has now left the national team camp.

France reported inflammation in his right ankle. It’s an issue that resurfaced shortly after Mbappe’s decisive display against Ukraine. His departure was confirmed alongside Eduardo Camavinga’s. Both players will miss France’s final qualifier clash against Azerbaijan.

Both of them are now returning to Madrid for further tests. The timing raises unavoidable questions. Mbappe not only completed the full 90 minutes against Ukraine, but he was also instrumental. He delivered two goals and an assist in a match that secured France’s place at the 2026 World Cup.

Despite no obvious signs of physical struggle during the game, staff opted for caution. Especially as the ankle had troubled him earlier in the campaign. The FFF stressed that the inflammation required evaluation, not immediate alarm. It mirrored Deschamps’ tone when he discussed Camavinga’s hamstring discomfort.

Real Madrid Await Clarity for Kylian Mbappe Return Date

For Real Madrid, the international break has been a balancing act. Mbappe has played relentlessly since the season began. He has started in all 16 matches across all competitions and was rarely substituted. His form has been extraordinary. It has been an unmatched attacking output this year.

However, the workload has been equally intense. A league trip to Elche is approaching Los Blancos. So, the club will want the incoming tests to confirm that the forward’s exit from the France camp has been rather precautionary than the start of something more disruptive.

Reportedly, Madrid sources remain optimistic about Mbappe’s chances of featuring after the break. They’ve shown a similar confidence regarding Camavinga as well. Their absences contrast with the more uncertain situations surrounding Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Both of them are still recovering from muscular injuries. Madrid’s squad depth will be tested with these injuries and Champions League fixtures following just days after the Elche match. Given Mbappe’s importance, the club will take no risks.

His influence has been central to maintaining their position at the top of La Liga. Hence, any delay in his return would shift the dynamic of the title race. The coming test results will determine whether Mbappe will miss or continue in a defining stretch of Madrid’s season.
