Kevin Durant is averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this season.
It’s been almost a month since the NBA trade deadline 2025. However, there are still a few rumors that keep surfacing every now and then. One is the trade rumor of Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant. Earlier during the trade deadline, there were speculations that the Suns were keen on trading Durant to acquire the services of former Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler.
While the Golden State Warriors wanted to sign Durant, his unwillingness to reunite with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green put rest to all the talks. However, even after a week of the deadline, the rumors of Suns moving Durant during the off-season were once again heard.
It seems that not many paid attention to it. However, after almost a month now, the market is again buzzing with the off-season transfer rumors of the four-time Olympic gold medalist. As per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Suns have clear intentions of transferring Durant during the off season. And, according to Brian, Durant is well aware of it.
The eleventh-seeded team in the West will field offers and come up with a deal that works for everyone. “They are going to trade him and he knows that,” said Windhorst during ESPN’s NBA Today.
“There have been a couple of opportunities where he could have criticized them for trying to trade him. He hasn’t done that. H is very professional about it and I expect that to continue throughout the rest of the regular season,” Windhorst added.
Brian went on to say that KD has set himself up for his last game for the Suns. “KD is setting himself up for his last act. I think everybody’s intentions are crystal clear here,” he concluded.

Notably, Durant was traded to the Suns in 2023 from the Nets in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected first-round picks and a 2029 first-round pick swap.

According to another report doing rounds on the internet, the Dallas Mavericks are keenly interested in signing the 15-time All-Star. Notably, the Mavs recently completed one of the most shocking trades. The deal sent their former superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers as they signed Anthony Davis and Max Christie.
Now, the side could sign Durant and pair him up with Kyrie Irving and Davis this summer.
The main reason for the Suns’ move to trade Durant is their expensive payroll and a struggling season. Though Durant has given some notable performances and got himself in the record books, the side is still struggling with a 27-31 record.
While he is averaging at 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this season, the side is losing and it shows. In their last 10 games, the Suns have managed to win only two.
