The Kansas City Chiefs are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game. The event is set to take place in Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs. There is a lot of excitement going into the Conference championship as the two teams are the best of the best. It is highly like that the winner of the AFC championship round, will win it all. These teams have two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and it is a simple matter of who’s the best.

Each time the two teams have gone up against each other, it has always been close. In the 2024 season, the Chiefs played the Bills once, and lost the match with a final score of 21-30. The two quarterback have played against each other multiple times and at this point, it’s safe to call it an NFL rivalry.

While the Bills have won some games in the regular season, they have yet to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Mahomes has had his way with the Bills, every time they’ve played in the postseason. So picking the Chiefs would be an obvious choice, if we’re talking about who’s more likely to win.

In the 2024 season, however, the Bills have looked different. They are more poised and have been making better decisions with the ball in their hands. Josh Allen had an efficient season and has been in the MVP conversation, all year long. If Allen and the Bills want to dethrone the Chiefs, there’s no time like the present.

It is not just us who thinks it’ll be a tough matchup as Mahomes himself acknowledges the fact that the beating the Bills will be no easy feat. Let’s find out more about what he told the media.

What did Mahomes say about the AFC Conference Championship going against the Bills?

Mahomes talked to the media in a press conference. He knows that the Bills are arguably the strongest team out of the remaining three in the playoffs. Mahomes also knows that Josh Allen is a top 2-3 (depends on who you ask) quarterback in the league.

He had this to say about going against the Bills.

“Yeah. I think (we’re) just two football teams going against each other. They have great players (at) every level, both sides of the ball and they’re well coached. So when you play great football teams like that, it kind of usually ends with that kind of split type of deal there. We’ve been able to beat them in the playoffs, and they’ve gotten us in the regular season. But if you look at the games, every game’s close.” Mahomes continued “It just comes down to a play here or there. That makes an impact on the outcome.”

A reporter then asked Mahomes about how much did he appreciate the back and forth chess match? Since the two teams have faced each other so many times.

Mahomes replied “If you look at the great rivalries in the NFL, it comes with this. It comes with playing each other every year in the regular season. It comes from playing in the playoffs. You have to combat. You have to look at your weaknesses and try to make those strengths and your strengths make them even better because, you know, they’re gonna go out there and try to take away those things… It’s a great football team, like I said, great players, well-coached. We Know it’s going to take our best in order to find a way to get a win.”

Who has more playoff wins in a head-to-head: Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen?

Patrick Mahomes won every single playoff matchup against Josh Allen so far. The Bills and Allen are currently 0-3 going against the Chiefs, in the playoffs. All the matches were very close, as Mahomes stated, but the Bills just have not been able to figure out how to stop the Chiefs yet. Going into the AFC Championship round, this will be the fourth time the Bills will play against the Chiefs. It is only the second time, the Bills have reached the AFC championship under Josh Allen.

Advancing further would mean a lot to both teams as Allen has a chance to win his very first Superbowl and Mahomes has a chance to three-peat. The match starts on January 26th, 2025, at 5:30pm ET.
